The beautiful story of Rene Caisse “Creator of the ESSIAC Tea” is remarkable !
The ESSIAC Tea is an herbal formula that has been in use since 1922. The formula was given to nurse Rene Caisse from a Canadian Ojibwa Indian Medicine Man. Born in Bracebridge, Ontario, Nurse Caisse prepared her original herbal formula into a drink named Essiac, which is her surname spelled backwards.
From 1922 to 1978, Rene Caisse gave her herbal tea to countless people as a remedy to help fight cancer at her clinic in Ontario, Canada. Her clinic was funded by donations that she accepted as she refused payments for her help. Although she refused payments for her services, she accepted donations to help support her clinic. Rene Caisse has dedicated fifty years of her life helping people with the Essiac formula.
Rene Caisse continues to be loved and remembered for her contribution to naturopathic medicine. Bronze sculptures of Nurse Caisse have been dedicated in her memory in Bracebridge and at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.
