Could Turmeric Prevent Colon Cancer?

Could turmeric prevent colon cancer? If this story is anything to go by, I believe it has huge potential to help the planet…

My friend David had colorectal cancer. He was told that there was a 5 cm tumour in his colon.

And whilst he was being treated he read in a newspaper article that colon cancer is almost unheard of among Asian people.

Scientific evidence backs this up. A study published in the Journal of Global Oncology in 2018 reported that the incidence of colon cancer was highest in North America (33.6 cases per 100,000 individuals), followed by Europe (21.7 cases per 100,000 individuals), while Asia had a lower incidence rate (6.4 cases per 100,000 individuals).

David asked his oncologist–who was of Indian background, about this anomaly. Was it something genetic? Something in the water?

The doctor just smiled and said that she believed that it was down to the fact that the Indian and other Asian communities recognised the value of cúrcuma, both in their diet and as a supplement.

Then she told David an anecdote. Her grandmother took a teaspoon of turmeric every night before bedtime and she lived to a ripe old age of 98 years!

Before we go on, I want you to know that David is still alive and more well than ever. The tumour was treated and removed without too many further problems.

Turmeric’s Long History Of Amazing Properties

Recent medical research has revealed what David’s oncologist’s grandmother knew all those years ago and what the Indian Homeopaths knew going back 4000 years.

Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) has been shown to have numerous biological activities including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antigrowth, anti-arthritic, anti-atherosclerotic, antidepressant, anti-ageing, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, wound healing, and memory-enhancing activities.

It has even been proven to be effective in helping prevent and treat diseases like Alzheimer’s and other degenerative diseases.

How To Use Turmeric If You Have Cancer

The good effects of turmeric can be greatly increased by combining it with black pepper (Piper Nigrum), indeed recent research has shown that this combination can increase the effects of turmeric by 2000%. Let us put that figure into context. One combination tablet containing turmeric and black pepper would have the same effect as having 200 tablets of just turmeric!

Black pepper has many of the same benefits as turmeric and a dose of each will provide equally valuable and complimentary benefits

Why Turmeric Works So Well

The scientists are still working out why this combination works as well as it does, but it is thought that the combination of the two spices means that the turmeric is better absorbed into the bloodstream through the gut.

This combination of spices has also been medically proven to aid digestion and help reduce gut spasms and flatulence.

The mixture of turmeric and black pepper has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, as both the spices help in desensitizing the pain receptors in the body, which reduce feelings of pain. Apparently, they are really effective when used to ease musculoskeletal injuries. And may assist in the treatment of conditions like arthritis.

No wonder the Indian people regard this gold-coloured spice as the ‘Spice for life’.
