If you had been told that the “silver” fillings your dentist wanted to put into your mouth (very close to your brain) were 49 or 50% mercury, you would have probably turned them down, wouldn’t you?
Mercury amalgam fillings can release mercury vapors for at least 1.5 hours after each “stimulation”, when you chew or drink a hot drink. That’s why many people are choosing to get them removed. However, replacing them also involves some danger.
In this article, I will be covering what you need to know to protect yourself against the toxicity of mercury amalgam fillings, even if you choose to keep them in your mouth.
Are Mercury Fillings Really That Bad?
Dental amalgams are the primary source of mercury exposure in America. They can release as much as 15 micrograms of mercury per day. So if you have 8 of them, you could be dealing with 120 micrograms of mercury every single day. That is nothing in comparison to mercury-tainted seafood, exposing you to about 2.3 micrograms. And yet, scientists have sent out a woldwide warning about seafood!
You might feel surprised that you didn’t know any of this – but unfortunately, only 1 in 4 people know that silver amalgams have mercury in them!
Why Is Mercury Bad For Your Health?
Mercury is a neurotoxin that can cross your blood-brain barrier, cell membranes and your central nervous system – which means it can damage your brain and nervous system, and that it has access to your whole body. Some of the symptoms mercury poisoning can cause include:
- Arrhythmias and heart problems
- Tremors, personality changes and irritability
- Blurred vision, headaches and slowed mental response
- Hair loss
- Anxiety and depression
- Memory loss
- Weight loss
- Skin rashes
- Gastrointestinal distress
- Widespread joint pain
- Decreased concentration
- Mood swings
- Excessive anger
- Difficultly concentration
However, there have been 250 specific symptoms associated with mercury toxicity.
How To Get Amalgam Fillings Removed
IMPORTANT: If you want to get your amalgam fillings removed, choose a dentist who is properly trained. If not, you expose you to huge health risks due to exposure to mercury levels that are three or four times higher. Use a “biological dentist” who is trained in safe procedure. They should provide you with an alternative air source so you aren’t breathing through your mouth as the amalgams are removed. They should put a rubber damn in your mouth so you don’t swallow or inhale any toxins. And they should have air purifiers in the room, among other precautions.

Can Vitamin C Help With Mercury Filling Detox?
Vitamin C helps your body to form teeth, and is a basic constituent of collagen, which holds your body’s cells together. It is also an excellent detoxification aid.
